End of the 2nd Six Weeks 10/27/2009
Dear Parents/Guardians: I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to give you an update as to what we are doing in class. (Just a reminder, daily agendas, handouts, power points, are made available to download. Anything in orange text is a link you can click on to download a document.) Grades are being updated daily; so check your child's progress on HAC. Please contact me if you have any questions. Note: Test retakes for both preps must be completed by A Days Fri 10/30 and B Days Mon 11/2. Last day to turn in any type of late work is Wed 11/4 for all classes. For Pre-AP Biology: Students are working on two test grade projects. If projects are turned in the next day (1 day late) max of 70 can be earned; and one block (2 days late) max of 50...that is if everything is perfect. Anything turned in after 1 block will not be accepted = 0 for a test grade. Cell Model Projects: Due A Days 10/28 and B Days 10/29 Biomolecule Projects: Due A Days 10/30 and B Days 11/2 We will have a quiz (70% of overall grades) over cell organelles and properties of water Tues/Wed. There will be a Cell Structure and Transport Test 11/9-10. This test will NOT be included in this six weeks but in the 3rd Six Weeks. For Regular Biology: Students have just finished their exams over Biochemistry and Body Systems. Any test retakes must be done within a week as of today! There is a project that we are working on in class, Imagination Cell-abration, that will be worth a test grade with a possible max score of 110. This project is due at the beginning of class A Days 10/30 and B Days 11/2. Projects turned in one day late can earn a max score of 70 and two days (one block) can earn a max score of 50. Afterwards, any projects will not be accepted=0 for a test grade. Please remind your child and help them with this project. There will be a cell organelle and properties of water quiz (70% of overall grades) on Wed/Thurs. A test over Cell Structures and Transport will be administered 11/9-10.
