A Tues 20 and B Wed 21

Biochemistry Test!

A Fri 16 and B Mon 19

Today, we will be reviewing for the Biochemistry Test next class period!

INB p. 57-58: Body Systems
INB p. 59: Biochem Puzzle
INB p. 59: Biochem WS

Homework: Study review for test next class period!

A Wed 14 and B Thurs 15

There is an INB Check today! We will also cover the Circulatory and Respiratory System today.

Circulatory and Respiratory System: Pg. 55-56
In/Out Activity pg. 55: Circulatory Cloze and Respiratory Cloze
Through Activity pg. 56: Circulatory Notes with PPT: Circulatory and Respiratory Notes with PPT: Respiratory System

Homework: Finish Circulatory and Respiratory Cloze

A Fri 9 and B Tues 13

Enzyme Liver Lab. This lab must be done in class or tutorials.

Homework: INB Check next class!

A Wed 7 and B Thurs 8

A quiz over biomolecules was given today! We finished up the Digestive System with Enzymes and also covered the Endocrine System on INB p. 49-50.

Enzymes: pg. 47-48
In pg 47: Part A. [1. What are the four different enzymes?] [2. In which organ are they found in and what do they digest?] Part B. Record a time when you were startled by something frightening and what did it feel like? (i.e. someone jumping unexpectedly out of the shadows)
Through pg 28: PPT: Enzymes Notes
Out pg 47: Pop Quiz

Endocrine System pg. 49-50
In pg 49: What type of biomolecule is responsible for carrying messages throughout the body?
Through pg. 50: Notes: PPT: Endocrine notes using a WS: Endocrine Notes Template on pg 49; Endocrine WS taped to pg 49 over the notes
Out pg 49: Endocrine Cloze

Homework: Finish Endocrine Cloze and Endocrine WS. INB check first class next week!

A Mon 5 and B Tues 6

The students received about half an hour of time to finish up their Biomolecules Frayer Model. We then covered the Digestive System and a quick introduction to Enzymes.

Digestive System pg. 45-46
In: Digestive Diagram
Through: PPT Notes: Digestive
Out: What happens to a burger?

Homework: Study for QUIZ next class!

A Thur 1 and B Fri 2

Today, we start Biochemistry with biomolecules and nutrition labels. We will go over how to read a nutrition label. There is also a WS: Nutrition Label Question with questions to answer using the WS: Nutrition Labels. This goes in the INB p. 39

Afterwards, students will take PPT : Biomolecules notes in their INB p. 40 over the four different types of biomolecules: lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids. Then, students are to create a diagram, the WS: Biomolecules Frayer Model, about each of the biomolecules.

The nutrition label will go on INB p. 39; PPT on INB p. 40, and the four Frayer Model Biomolecules will go on INB p 41-44.

Homework: Finish all lipids and proteins Frayer Model Biomolecules

A Tues 29 and B Wed 30

Today, we start our unit on Biochemistry. Today is a one day review of chemistry (atoms, elements, water, solutions....). The students made 2foldables over 16 terms and concepts. (Each foldable has 8 sections). These foldables are in the INB pg. 37-38. Each term/concept needs a definition and a colored picture that describes or helps the student remember the definition. Use the PPT: Biochemistry to help complete the assignment.

Foldable 1 Terms: element, atom, atomic number and mass, energy levels, isotopes, ionic bonds, covalent bonds, van der waals

Foldable 2: pH scales, water molecules, water polarity, cohesion, adhesion, mixtures, suspensions, solutions (solute and solvent)
